In and around Santiago

A quick stop over in Chile’s capital city Santiago gave me a chance to wander around the city for a few days. I found a pretty reasonably priced apart hotel 5 mins walk from Santa Lucia Metro, the central location was great and with many of the cities attractions within easy walking distance. If you go, best to brush up on your Spanish though, as I didn’t encounter a single person who had more than 3 words of English during my 3 days here!

A trip to the Islas Ballestas

Although grandiosely nicknamed the ‘poor man’s Galapagos,’ the Islas Ballestas certainly made for a memorable excursion. I was thankfully able to avoid the customary greeting from the local bird population that befalls many. My advise to those wishing to visit – wear a hat!

Paracas kite surfari adventures into the Reserve

After the severe lack of wind in Cape Hatteras I was ready for some good kite surfing conditions and Paracas did not disappoint! In the month I was there I thing we had a bout 3 non kite-able days and average wind around 18 knots! With a plethora of spots to explore from flat water to open ocean there was plenty of kite surfing fun to be had!

This first post on Paracas contains an assortment of pictures from a few kite surfaries into the Paracas Reserva.
